An evening of entertainment and good music is guaranteed with the operetta 'Scugnizza'. Following the huge success in previous years, the Valletta Dramatic Company will bring to the Manoel Theatre this operetta which will surely be received well by the audience.

The cast includes some of Malta’s finest singers, comedians and actors namely Ludwig Galea, Ruth Sammut Casingena, George Micallef, Mario Micallef, Laura Bruno and Patricia Mahoney.

The artistic direction is under Joe Izzo whilst the music Direction is under Maestro Archibald Mizzi.    

On Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st of March 2010, the Sir Temi Zammit Theatre, University of Malta, Tal-Qroqq will be the venue for “In Harmony – Live the Music” Spiteri Lucas Entertainment (SLE) will be staging another spectacular music production at.

“In Harmony” is a live, animated and entertaining show featuring a varied repertoire of popular tunes chosen from over a sixty year span of Music History and made popular throughout the years by a host of international stars. Hit numbers such as “Ain’t No Mountain High”, “Lady Marmalade”, “Tell Him”, “That’s What Friends are for”, “All for Love”, Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “What a Wonderful World”, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”, Michael Jackson’s “Heal the World”, “The Circle of Life”, “Let it Be” and many others will feature prominently in this production.

For this musical show, Spiteri Lucas Entertainment has assembled a highly talented cast with some of Malta’s top and most versatile performers such as Ludwig Galea, Ivan Spiteri Lucas, Raquela, Pamela, Debbie Scerri, Glen Vella, Nadine Axisa and Neville who is also responsible for a children’s choir that was chosen following a series of auditions held throughout the last few months.

All artists will be accompanied by a live seven piece band under the direction of musical director Mark Spiteri Lucas who is also responsible for all musical arrangements to be performed throughout the show.

The Valletta Dramatic Company will be celebrating its 35 year anniversary since it's inception with a brand new edition of the local spectacle bearing the name Kantanapoli which is set to be held at the Catholic Institute in Floriana on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 January.

In this fifth edition of Kantanapoli, Ludwig Galea, Ruth Sammit Casingena, Anita Cauchi, Marita Bezzina and Joseph Aquilina perform under the artistic direction of George Micallef and the direction of Arcibald Mizzi. Mary Grech hosts this event full of Neapolitan, operas and operattas.

The singers will perform with a live 25-piece orchestra and some of the numbers for the evening include Maruzella, Chitarra Romana, Tu Si Una Cosa Grande, O Sarracino, Malafemena, Vesti La Gubbe (from I Pagliacci), Vicsi d’Arte (from La Tosca), Veder Napoli e Poi Morev (from La Boheme). Former Maltese ESC representatives are involved in a new song “DINJA GDIDA”  (A BETTER WORLD) which has just been launched by the Community Chest Fund to raise funds for Istrina 2009.

The song was composed by Philip Vella while the words of the song were written by Prof Joe Friggieri.

Following last year’s resounding success, The Gozo Youth Orchestra within the Gozo Youth Wind Band & Orchestra in collaboration with the American Embassy and the Culture Office (Ministry for Gozo) have announced that they are proud to present an open-air concert named Opera vs Pop Under the Stars – 2nd Edition, with the participation of guest Soprano Pamela Agius (New York) and Bass Noel Galea (Gozo).

This year, Pop Tenor Ludwig Galea will join forces with the two soloists to present a spectacular combination of classic and pop repertoire.

Opera vs Pop Under the Stars will be held Monday, the 3rd of August, 2009 at 8.15pm, at the Gozo Ministry’s Courtyard, Victoria, Gozo and will be hosted by the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono and Special Guest – the American Chargé d’Affaires Mr Jason Davies.

The Orchestra will be under the direction of Founder and Music Director Mro Joseph Grech and will include a selection of operatic arias from Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera, Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, Puccini’s Boheme and Tosca in the first part of the programme, followed by an array of lighter pop arrangements from soundtracks and musicals including West Side Story, Phantom of the Opera, Magnificent Seven, Aspects of Love, Chess, Sound of Music amongst others.

ItaloPop is the theme chosen for this year’s annual musical concert organised by the Maria Mater Gratiæ Philharmonic Society of Zabbar in association with MMG promotions, due to be held at the Notre Dame Theatre in Zabbar on Sunday 22nd March 2009.

The concert band directed by Mro. Ray Sciberras F.L.C.M. will be taking the audience around a whole evolution of some of the very best Italian hits including Un Amore Così Grande, Caruso, Azzurro, La Solitudine, The Prayer, Vivo Per Lei, Con Te Partirò, Musica Proibita, Vorrei Che Fosse Amore, the best of Ramazzotti, Morandi and Zucchero, together with a nostalgic mix of Napolitan songs. The band will be accompanied by the well renowned singers Ludwig Galea and Pamela Bezzina together with tenor Joseph Aquilina.

It is worth noting that the greater part of these selections were exclusively purchased from foreign music distributors by the Maria Mater Gratiæ Philharmonic to be played by a concert band in Malta for the first time during ItaloPop.

The audiovisual spectacular concert kicks-off at 7.30pm.

Two weeks before the concert of the legendary The Platters in Wentworthville Leagues Club Sydney Malta’s pop tenor Ludwig Galea mesmerized  the Maltese and Australian audience with his superb voice.The Maltese Herald journalist in Sydney Rita Kassa described Ludwig as a star who managed to create a fantastic atmosphere of song and participation among those attending.  Furthermore she stated that Ludwig’s concert was one of the best ever presented and difficult to forget.Throughout his concert Ludwig full of energy sang different songs in Maltese, English and Italian. He sang hits from the legendary Elvis and Paul Anka,  popular aries like ‘Funiculi, Funicula’ , Nessun Dorma’  Bocelli’s Con Te Partiro and many nostalgic Maltese songs like ‘L-Ewwel Tfajla li habbejt’, ‘Il-Karozzin’,‘Xemx’and ‘Viva Malta’. Furthermore Rita Kassa stated  that Ludwig’s concert took more or less an hour and a half . The highlights of his concert were  puccini’s Nessun Dorma,  the popular italian song Mamma and his own Maltese song il-Bagalja ta’ l-awstralja written perposely for the occation by the Maltese composer and author Philip Vella and Joe Chircop. Ludwig at the end showed his appreciation to those who attended his sold out concert and most of all his promoters Charles Baby Face Curmi and Charlie Spiteri. Further more Ludwig acknowledge the Education Division of Malta especially Mr. Sandro Spiteri for all the support given.

a live spectacular show featuring Italian Songs

For the third year running, Spiteri Lucas Entertainment and Hermann Bonaci Productions have kept their annual joint-production appointment with the Maltese public, to put up “DIPINTO DI BLU” - a live spectacular show featuring Italian pop songs from different periods of time. This new music production will be staged on Saturday 14^th March at 7.30pm and Sunday 15^th March at 5.30pm, at the Catholic Insitute Theatre in Floriana. Dipinto di Blù compiles a varied repertoire that appeals to different generations. The show features songs by legendary Italian artists, both from the past and the present such as Giorgia, Andrea Bocelli, Laura Pausini and Eros as well as Gianni Morandi, Albano, Lucio Battisti, Marcella Bella, Gigi D’Alessio and Mia Martini. Hit numbers like Come Saprei, Sapore di Sale, Margherita, Vivo Per Lei, La Solitudine, Adesso Tu, In Amore, Montagne Verdi and Almeno Tu Nell’Universo together with Domenico Modugno’s classic hit Nel Blù Dipinto di Blù, just to mention a few, feature prominently in this production. The song-list also include a couple of Neapolitan standards such as O Sole Mio and Funiculi Funicula. For this musical show, Spiteri Lucas Entertainment and Hermann Bonaci Productions, have assembled a star studded cast with versatile artists like Ludwig Galea, Neville Refalo, Nadine Axisa, Natasha and Charlene Grima, Ivan Spiteri Lucas, Sandro Cassar, Adrienne Azzopardi, Julia Grima and Brooke Borg amongst others. Final preparations are in full swing in Australia for three concerts by Popular singer Ludwig.

 The Talented performer is flying to Australia to perform to Maltese immigrants living there. There’s great anticipation for this concert due to the ammount of tickets being sold.

 Ludwig will entertain his audience by singing songs from his repertoire, including his new title track Il-Bagalja ta’ L-Awstralja composed by Philip Vella and written by Joe Chircop, semi-classical numbers and nostalgic Maltese songs like il-Festa, il-Karozzin, il-vapur ta’ l-art and others.

 In total Ludwig will be visiting three states first performance on the 21st and 22nd of February being held in Melbourn, Second performance on the 28th of February & 1st of March being held in Sydney and the final Show in  Brisbane on the 7th of March.

During the 18^th edition of Top Sprint awards held each year at the Teatro Metropolitan of Sicily popular pop tenor Ludwig mesmerized the audience with a breathtaking rendition of Tourandot’s Nessun Dorma. "Che Voce" …those were the words of Italian superstar presenter Luisa Corna. Sources in the auditorium commented that Ludwig received a number of applauses during and after the aria. Ludwig won the TV show "Simply Music" (Net Tv) by impressing the judges with his proffesionalism and voice. Following that success, he accompanied the famous group Simply Red on stage at the MCC on the 2nd November 2007.

The show "Simply Music" was made with the purpose to find a couple of singers who would upstage MCC with the group Simply Red. The concept was famous singers singing with upcoming young talents. Judges were Simply Red's manager and songwriter, who were both very impressed by Ludwig and his singing partner for the show Raquela. Each week the comments after their performances were optimistic and positive. Naturally, they won at the Finals and then participated in the huge concert on 02 November.

Ludwig is resident singer at the Maltese TV show "Sas-Sitta" (Untill 6).

On March 15th Ludwig Galea arrived in Sofia, Bulgaria's capital, and was taken straight to the Television, where he had lots of media attention and made an interview for the most watched and popular morning TV programme of Bulgaria - "The morning show on BTV", watched by millions of people. Ludwig was sharing his emotions about getting back to Bulgaria, after the success he already gained there on Discovery Festival 2006, about singing in Malta and abroad and about other music-related topics.

Later that day he flied to Varna, where his solo concert would be held. The theme of the concert was "Ludwig Galea - My Music" and it consisted of popular songs and fragments from musicals, performed by Ludwig himself, with piano accompaniment by the well known Bulgarian pianist Emil Gruev. The event was held in Radio Varna's concert hall and was released and organised by Foundation "Discovery", lead by Dono Tsvetkov. Ludwig and Emil Gruev met for the first time ever on their first rehearsal, but their proffesionalism showed them the right way to making an event up to a high standart and, of course, coming from the heart. The rehearsals, held in a private concert hall, went smooth and the team got on very well.

March 18th - it's showtime!!! At 6pm the hall was already full with special guests from the local showbusiness and media personas. Ludwig gave an impeccable performance on all the songs, the public's reaction was wild applauses and standing ovation. People from all ages were diving into the world of music, listening to the capturing voice of one of Malta's top singers! The event was shown on the TV channel M-Sat, broadcasted live on BNR-Radio Varna and featured in some magazines and newspapers in the country, as well previously promoted all around the city with posters and by the media.

No doubt, Malta did it again, it digged deeper in the Bulgarian music lovers' hearts with their proud representor Ludwig Galea!! Prosit hafna u awguri lil Ludwig!!!
